The Crowing of a Rooster

Baja Barnyard
Baja Barnyard

The crowing of a rooster will always be synonomous for me with Mexico. There's a farm behing me that raises chickens and roosters, plus several of my neighbors have them, here in Baja California Sur, Mexico. So, I finally decided I needed to include these hearty birds in a painting and here it is. The crowing has become so much a part of being here that I rarely take notice; It's like the Mexican wind to me. I ran into my old challenge again with painting desert plants, but this time, I did a broad strokes of color  as a suggestion of the flora and fauna outside the actual "Baja Barnyard" and it seemes to me to have worked.

Love the way you have captured this scene...makes me want to be there! Beautiful colors and I can almost hear the chickens. :-) Enjoy and thrive in your time in Baja Sur!
