Camille has developed her colorist eye for many years, originally educated by Henry Hensche of the Cape School.
"A Painter's Painter," Hawthorne [extended impressionism to become somewhat structural in teaching his students to] "differentiate between color and tone and ro re-create the illusion of light without employing the impressionist's formula." He c reated the Cape Cod School of Art and was highly influential upon generations of well-known artists.
In the beginning -- moving from the tonal tradition, Monet was the leader of the impressionist movement that brought modern colors in paint into full play for a more realistic depiction of the vibrancy of nature and light.
A former student of Sergei Bongart, contemporary master Daniel Pinkham is one of my favorite artists.
Don Sahli was the last apprentice to work with Sergei Bongart, a Russian colorist who emigrated to the US and became a well-known oil painter and teacher.
Henry Hensche studied with Hawthorne, took over the Cape Cod School of Art as the Cape School of Art, and developed a fine visual colorist perception during over 70 years he painted and expressed in his works. He insisted upon focus on underpainted tones from his students.
John Ebersberger, contemporary colorist, was highy influenced by Hensche.
John Gasparach is a former student of Leo Marchutz -- you'll see by his use of white space and vigor of drawing and painting -- and has been teaching at the Marchutz School in Aix-en-Provence for many years.
Michele's use of color combined with the structure of line appears to have it's roots in Cezanne, yet is uniquely her own.

The Marchutz School is now a part of the Institute for American Universities (IAU), Aix-en-Provence, France. "A foremost authority on the work of Cézanne, Marchutz was also an innovator in the fields of lithography, painting, drawing, and art education." The school continues today under the leadership of a group of artists who are former students, with instructors John Gasparach and Alan Roberts.
